Anita Jung is an artist based in Iowa. Collage and recycled materials are part of her printmaking process; book covers, found and pre-used print surfaces are common in her works of art. She is also interested in the creative waste materials generated through CNC machines. These anonymous materials are beautiful abstractions, they hold the cold precision of technology simultaneously with the humility of being deemed scrap. These castoff materials, through hand printing relief nd silkscreen as well as spray paint with stencils become layered, creating veils and dialogues within an artificially created architecture. In the making of this work, Anita often contemplates the jali or jaali, stone screens used in Indo-Islamic architecture. These screens were used both as a means to keep cool and a means to conceal interior space from the exterior world. 

Anita is a professor at the University of Iowa. Over a thirty-year career, her artwork has been curated into well over two hundred and fifty solo, group and juried exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. She has given numerous lectures at conferences, universities, art centers and community centers. She attended Arizona State University, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and drawing; she received her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the graphic arts. She was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago. She has become a frequent traveler to India. She maintains a robust studio practice and engages in community projects, fully utilizing being an artist in academia to engage the world around her.
